Selective laser sintering (SLS) material: iglidur® i3

The iglidur® i3 material, specially developed for laser sintering, showed an abrasion resistance 3 to 30 times better than conventional materials for laser sintering in the tribological tests in the igus® test laboratory. As a result, the degrees of freedom are further increased when designing wear-stressed sliding components. It is used for all sliding applications, as well as rollers, racks, spur gears and bevel gears.

When to use it?

For all types of applications where low friction and high wear resistance are important
When an easy to process laser sintering material with high strength is required
When components with high mechanical strength are required, in particular spur gears, bevel gears, drive nuts, special slides and spherical bearings
Very good wear properties with anodised aluminium as a counter partner

When not to use it?

For use under water or with high humidity (→ iglidur i8-ESD)
If components with ESD specifications are required (→ iglidur i8-ESD)
For worm gear applications (→ iglidur i6)
If a food grade material is required (→ iglidur i10)
If components with higher elasticity are required (→ iglidur i10)
If the application temperature is higher than 80°C in the long term (→ iglidur i230 or iglidur A350 or iglidur RW370)
